"A lot of walking to get to the different pools/restaurants on the resort. Wish there were better signs for getting around. It took me awhile to find the “short cuts.” There are employees that will drive you around on golf carts but then I feel obligated to tip every time. They need a better system of making reservations for restaurants. It’s almost impossible to get a reservation for any day of your stay, even when reserving as soon as you check in. The reservations we did get were at 9 and 9:30 at night. No way I want to eat dinner that late. If there was an option of a resort app, I did not know. It would have been nice to have an app to use as a map or make reservations. You have to pay for WiFi beyond two devices. I paid an extra $120 so everyone in my party could use phones for apps, etc. Data did not work well at all, and we had Tmobile. Paying for WiFi is a huge reason I wouldn’t return with my entire family of 6\. Be prepared to get up early in the morning to save a pool chair at the main “party pool” if you want to be near all the action. Signs state no saving chairs, but no one listens. The other pools on the resort were much quieter and easier to get chairs. The food options were actually great and tasted good, considering it is an all inclusive resort. I was very very impressed! The rooms were very clean, beds very comfortable. The Murphy bed is very comfortable, surprisingly. I definitely would return, but only as a party of two. "

"The staff at the resort were amazing - they made the whole trip so much better! Jose from guest services went above and beyond to make sure our stay was wonderful. He was so friendly and helpful. Antonio at the pool bar was also fantastic. He always had a smile on his face and was a true joy to be around! The room was spacious and cleaned very well every day! The Mexican restaurant was great and Juan was an amazing server there. We had the best time! "

"We recently stayed at Royalton Riviera Cancun and feel obligated to share our experience so other travelers can make an informed decision. The resort looks beautiful, but the service consistently ruined what should have been a relaxing vacation. On multiple occasions at different bars, we politely ordered drinks and were bluntly told “no” with no explanation or alternative offered. Staff would simply walk away and serve the next person, leaving us waiting just to order something else. It felt dismissive and unwelcoming. The biggest disappointment was the Mayan Cave dinner ($70 per person). Two people in our group are vegetarian and none of us eat beef. When we arrived, the fixed menu only offered surf and turf with no vegetarian options. We were told we should have notified them beforehand, though no one informed us when booking. We were promised accommodations, but instead received plain leafy greens called a “salad,” and were told the rest of our appetizers would not be served. After pushing back, only two appetizer plates were brought for eight adults to share. Vegetarians received a basic veggie patty, while the rest of us got salmon, while other tables received lobster and steak. Several courses listed on the menu never arrived. Buffet stations were frequently empty, sometimes the entire time we were there, and staff often appeared annoyed when guests waited for refills. Management listened but promised follow-ups never happened."

"The hotel facilities are very nice and overall in excellent condition. You can tell that the property is well maintained. I’m very particular about cleanliness, so I always check the beds and pillows upon arrival. In this case, only one of the queen beds was clean. The other had hair on it and appeared to have been made without actually changing the sheets or bedding. The bathroom was also not in the best condition. The toilet had what looked like pubic hair, and the floor had quite a bit of hair as well. We only stayed for one night, but I do want to highlight that the shuttle service and customer service were excellent — truly 10/10."

"Overall, we had a great experience at Venus El Cid Resort & Spa! The property is beautiful, the atmosphere is relaxing, and there’s a lot to enjoy once you settle in. That said, our arrival wasn’t as welcoming as we expected. We arrived late, and unfortunately, there was no proper greeting or guidance when we got to the hotel. The staff member who handed us the keys did say “welcome,” but it didn’t feel like the warm, hospitable arrival you usually look forward to at a resort. Another thing to note is that the resort is quite large, which is great but it can also be confusing at first. Even with the map, it was a bit overwhelming and not very easy to follow. Thankfully, by around the fourth day, we finally got the hang of where everything was. Overall, still a very enjoyable stay, just a few areas that could improve the first impression and navigation experience.!"
